2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, DISSOLVING THE SISTER
3 CITY COMMITTEE

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad established the Sister City
5
Committee by Resolution 90-3 on the 2nd day of January, 1990; and
6
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad decided on June 16, 2009 to
7
end its funding of the Sister City Committee as of June 30, 2010; and8
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad has encouraged the creation
10 of a non-profit entity to administer the program;
11 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
12 Carlsbad, California, as follows:

1. That the above recitations are true and correct.

2. That the Sister City Committee is hereby dissolved.
15
3. That the City Council send a letter of appreciation to current and past16
committee members expressing thanks for their service to the city and the
18 community.
19 4. That the City Council direct the city manager to return within nine months
20 with a report and recommendation on the city's relationship to the newly
21 created non-profit organization, Carlsbad Sister City Ambassadors, Inc.22 //

PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council
of the City of Carlsbad on the 22nd day of June, 2010, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Kulchin, Hall, and Blackburn.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Council Member Packard.
