HomeMy WebLinkAbout2013-09-24; City Council; Resolution 2013-238EXHIBIT 2 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2013-238 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD CITY COUNCIL, AUTHORIZING APPROVAL OF THE USTING OF UNDERUTIUZED PROPERTIES AND AMENDMENT TO INCLUDE MAERKLE RESERVOIR 4 (APN 169-500-05) LOCATED IN CARLSBAD CALIFORNIA AND PAJAMA DRIVE (APN 149-070-47) LOCATED IN OCEANSIDE, 5 CAUFORNIA 6 7 WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad and the Carlsbad Municipal Water District (CMWD) each own considerable portfolios of real property; and, 9 WHEREAS, due to the size and value of the real property portfolios and the changing 10 uses of such, the agencies have identified underutilized assets in an effort to increase their 11 utility to the City of Carlsbad and the CMWD; and, 12 23 WHEREAS, at a special workshop held on August 21, 2012, the City of Carlsbad City 14 Council and the Carlsbad Municipal Water District Board jointly considered a list of selected 1^ properties for revenue generation opportunities (referred to as the "Listing of Underutilized 16 17 18 19 20 WHEREAS, subsequent to consideration of the Listing of Underutilized Properties, two 21 additional properties were deemed to be underutilized assets that have a potential for revenue generation; and, WHEREAS, the Maerkle Reservoir Expansion Property (APN 169-500-05), is 55.7 acres and is owned by the CMWD; and, WHEREAS, the Pajama Drive Property (APN 149-070-47),is composed of 1.55 acres and Properties''); and, WHEREAS, staff proposes formal approval of the Usting of Underutilized Properties; and. 23 24 25 26 27 is owned by the CMWD; and, 28 7 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 current Usting of Underutilized Properties and amending the listing to Include these two properties; and, WHEREAS, the City of Carlsbad City Council will authorize City of Carisbad staff to 1 WHEREAS, staff proposes identifying these properties as underutilized, approving the 2 3 4 5 ^ explore other uses for these properties, including potential leasing or sale. If approved, staff will 7 evaluate options and return to the City of Carlsbad City Council with a recommendation; and, 8 WHEREAS, the potential lease revenue generated from any future lease or sale of the Maerkle Reservoir Expansion Property or the Pajama Drive Property will accrue to the Carlsbad Municipal Water District. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carisbad, 9 10 11 12 23 California, as follows: 14 1. The above recitations are true and correct. 2. The City Council hereby approves the Listing of Underutilized Properties and 16 directs City of Carlsbad staff to amend the listing to Include the Maerkle Reservoir 17 Expansion Property and Pajama Drive Property as underutilized properties. 1 2p 3. City of Carlsbad staff Is authorized by the City of Carlsbad City Council to explore 20 options for maximizing the value of all properties in the Listing of Underutilized 21 Properties, including possible lease or sale.
