A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATION OF ADDITIONAL
FUNDS AND APPROVING AN INCREASE IN THE CONTINGENCY FOR
THE CONSTRUCTION OF PALOMAR AIRPORT ROAD AND COLLEGE
BOULEVARD IMPROVEMENTS. PROJECT NOS. 6028 AND 6029.
WHEREAS, on November 6, 2012, the city council adopted Resolution No. 2012-240
awarding a contract to PAL General Engineering, Inc. for the construction of the Palomar
Airport Road and College Boulevard Intersection Improvement Project, Project Nos. 6028 and
6029; and
WHEREAS, on February 19, 2013, PAL General Engineering, Inc. was issued a notice to
proceed and construction of the project commenced; and
WHEREAS, during the course of construction additional project costs were incurred due
to the requirement for night work in order to reduce traffic impacts and implement safe traffic
control procedures; and
WHEREAS, during the course of construction it was determined that SDGSiE facilities,
not previously identified, conflicted with the project alignment; and
WHEREAS, implementation of a revised project alignment would eliminate the need to
move the proposed SDG&E facilities; and
WHEREAS, staff is requesting an additional appropriation amount of $155,000 to the
General Capital Construction Fund for project no. 6029; and
WHEREAS, staff is requesting an increase in the contingency for the construction of the
Palomar Airport Road and College Boulevard Improvement Project, Project Nos. 6028 and 6029
Implementation of the revised alignment increases the cost to construct Project No. 6029.

1. The above recitations are true and correct.
2. The administrative services director is authorized to appropriate additional
1 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,

5 General Capital Construction Funds in the amount of $155,000 for Project No. 6029.
7 3. That the contingency amount for Project No. 6029 is increased by $165,000 and
^ the city manager is hereby authorized to approve construction change orders up to the revised

contingency amount of $203,841.
