A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING STAFF TO INITIATE LEASE NEGOTIATIONS WITH
THE SAN DIEGUITO UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR THE MAINTENANCE
AND OPERATIONS OF THE LA COSTA VALLEY SPORTS COMPLEX
EXHIBIT 1
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California has determined that access to
recreation and active, healthy lifestyles is a core value and integral part of the community vision; and
WHEREAS, the La Costa Valley Sports Complex is a 28 acre parcel owned by San Dieguito Union
High School District (SDUHSD), and is located on Calle Barcelona in the City of Carlsbad; and
WHEREAS, the city is in receipt of a letter from Eric R. Dill, SDUHSD superintendent; and
WHEREAS the SDUHSD has expressed an interest, and has requesting agency collaboration, on
development of a long term lease agreement for the city to maintain and operate the La Costa Valley
Sports Complex.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as
follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That staff is authorized to initiate lease negotiations with the SDUHSD for the
maintenance and operations of the La Costa Valley Sports Complex and return with a
term sheet for City Council consideration.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of
Carlsbad on the 7th day of November 2017, by the following vote, to wit:
