RESOLUTION OF TfB BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL
WATER DISTRICT REEUESTING THE COESEKT OF THE BQARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE ME!TROPOLITAN MATFB DISTRICT OF SOU'imN CALIF(IR1JIA AM)
WATER AUTI-iORITY TO THE ANEXATIQ? OF SAID DISTRICT TO SAID THE
METROPOLITAN VATEX DIS'XICT OF SOU"mM CALIFORNIA AND TO SAID
SAN DIEGO COIDiTY WATER AUTHORITY.
THE CONSENT OF PIE BOARD OF DIWCTORS OF THE SAN DIEGO COUNTY
WHEREAS, on the 2/+th day of March, 1954, the Board of Directors of the Carlsbad
Municipal Water District declared its intention to apply to the Board of Directors of the San Diego County Water Authority and to the Board of Directors of The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California for consent to annex.to said San Diego County Water Authority and to safd The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California the corporate area of said Carlsbad Municipal Water District as such corporate area exists at the time of making said declaration of intention or as said corporate area will exist upon the conclusion of proceedings referred to in paragraph (c) of Section 9.5 of the Metropolitan Water District Act of the State of California for the annexation to any city of territory within said Carlsbad MuniciFal Water District, in a manner
that would result in the automatic annexation to said The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California of such territory now within said Carlsbad Municipal Water Dis- trict upon the consummation of the annexation of such territory to such city and the concurrent exclusion of such territory from the Carlsbad Municipal Water District; and
WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Municipal Water District is now using practically all available water, and it probably is not feasible to develop further local supplies; and
WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Municipal Water District is growing in population and large
areas are being planted to agricultural products, resulting in an increase inwater -_ demands and water use; and
MEREAS, the Carlsbad Municipal Water District must have additional water to

t furnish adequate domestic and cgricultural water to the users within its area and to
protect the public health; and
WXEFtEAS, it is to the best interests of the Carlsbad Mmicipal Water District that property values be maintained and enhanced obtaining additional water; and
WKEREAS, it is to the best interests of the Carlsbad Municipal *ter District to obtain additional water before the costs of obtaining such water increase or the
possibility of obtaining said water may be lost; and
WHETtEAS, the San Diego County Water Authority is in a position to supply the
Carlsbad Municipal Water District with a limited supplementary supply of water; and
WHEREBS, the Carlsbad Municipal Water District has completeti the initial steps '
to make formal application to said San Diego County Water Authority and to said The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California; and
WHEWAS, the Board of Directors of the Carlsbad Municipal Water District deems
the annexation of said district to the San Diego County Water Authority and to The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California to be desirable;
NOW, THEREFORE, 3E IT RESOLVED that pursuant to the declaration of intention
hereinhfore referred to, the Board of Directors of the Carlsbad Municipal Water Dist- I( rict does hereby request the consent of the Board of Directors of the San Diego County ' Water Authority and the consent of the Board of Directors of The Metropolitan Water
District of Southern California to the annexation of said Carlsbad Municipal Water
District to said Authority and to said Metropolitan, and request that the district be
advised by the Authority and by Metropolitan of the terms and conditions upon which such consent might be obtained; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary forward a certified copy of this
Resolution forthwith to the Board of Directors of the San Diego
and forward a certified copy of this Resolution forthwith to the Board of Directors
of The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
