RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CARISBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT ENDORSING PROPOSITION "Wn ON THE JUNE 5, 19%
PRIMARY ELECTION BALIX)T AND URGING ITS APPROVAL BY THE VOTERS.
WHEFEAS, the population of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, now more than six=m%llion, is increasing at an amazing rate, and is
creating an imperative need for larger water deliveriesj and
WHEZEAS, there is urgently needed am accelerated construction program to bring the District's Colorado River Aqueduct to its full planned delivery
capacity of more than a billion gallons a day; and
WREREAS, Sa Diego County is now largely dependent upon Colorado Rfver
water to meet its industrial, agricultural and domestic needs, and completion of
the Metropolitan*s Aqueduct will assure a continued supply from this source; and
UHEBEAS, Proposition "Wn on the June 5th ballot provldes a financing
plan with no tax increase for completing the aqueduct construction program by authorizing issuance of short term notes which will be repaid within twelve years,
with interest, from the annexation fees now being received by the District over a
thirty-year period from areas which have annexed to it in recent years; and
WHEREAS, Proposition llW1l thus makes possible during the next few years,
the investment of a part of an assured future income due over a thirty-year period to bring our cqueduct to its full delivery capacity without new tax money)
NOW, THEREF'ORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Carlsbad Municipal Water
District does hereby endorse Proposition "W" on the June 5, 1956, primary election
ballot and urges its approval by the voters.
