RESOLUTION NO. 85
RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTQRS OF CARLSBAD NIUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT FAVORING A SPECIAL WATER RATE FOR AGRICULTURAL PURPOSES.
WHEREX3, it has come to the attention of the Board of Directors of
Carlsbad Municipal Water District that certain agencies within the San Diego
County Water Authority are opposing the action of the Metropolitan Water
District of Southern California in establishing an agricultural and domestic
water rate and;
WHEREAS, it can be amply demonstrated that agriculture cannot pay as
much for -water as domestic users and that if agriculture is going to survive
in San Diego County, water rates competitive with water rates in other counties
must be maintained, and that any substantial raising of charges for water u9ed
for agriculture purposes will substantially injure the economy of those districts
which are chiefly agricultural in character; and
WHEREAS, it is apparent that if a separate rate for agricultural water
is not established by Metropolitan, all water users will be required to pay the
rate now established for domestic service, and that the raising or abolishment
of the agriculture rate will not result in the lowering of the rate charged for
domestic water by Metropolitan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Board goes on record
as favoring the action of Metropolitan, and that said action is sound and econom
cally justified; that any increase in the agricultural rate for water will
substantially injure the economy of those areas within the Metropolitan Water
District which are agricultural in character.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Secretary of the District forward
a copy of thk resolution to the following:
Rainbow Municipal Water District San Diego County Water Authority Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
