RESOLUTION NO. 1413
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT, CALIFORNIA,
AUTHORIZING THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT
AUTOMATED METER REPLACEMENT PROGRAM GRANT
APPLICATION TO THE BUREAU OF RECLAMATION FOR
WHEREAS, the Carlsbad Municipal Water District (CMWD) is organized and operates
under the Municipal Water District Law of 1911, Division 20 (commencing with Section 71000) of
the California Water Code, and is a subsidiary district to the City of Carlsbad; and
WHEREAS, the United States Department of the Interior Bureau of Reclamation
provides monetary grants to state, regional, or local authorities, Indian tribes or tribal10
organizations, and other entities such as water districts to finance projects that results in water and
11
energy efficiency, including water conservation, renewable energy in the management of water,
12
benefits to endangered species, facilitating water markets or addressing climate-related impacts
on water; and
WHEREAS, CMWD has committed funding to maximize and diversify water supplies
and the efficient delivery of those supplies within the CMWD's service area and watershed,
including projects that result in water savings and improved energy efficiency in the management
and delivery of water.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of the Carlsbad Municipal Water
..a District, California, as follows:
2Q 1 - That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the Executive Director or Director of Utilities is hereby authorized to apply
for a grant through the U. S. Department of the Interior's WaterSMART: Water
and Energy Efficiency Grants for the fiscal year 2011 program to install meters

under the Automated Meter Reading Program.

3. That if recommended for funding by Bureau of Reclamation, CMWD's Board of

Directors supports the application submitted to accept a grant up to $300,000.

4. That if recommended for funding by Bureau of Reclamation, CMWD's Board of
27 Directors authorizes and ensures capability of CMWD to provide matching funds
28 "
1 in the form of a cash and in-kind contributions in the amount specified' in the
2 application Funding Plan.
3 5. That if recommended for funding by Bureau of Reclamation, CMWD will work
4 with Bureau of Reclamation to meet established deadlines for entering into a
cooperative agreement to obtain a WaterSMART grant in the amount of
$300,000.

by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Board Members Hall, Kulchin, Blackburn, Douglas and Packard.
NOES: None.
