RESOLUTION NO. 256
A RESOLUTION OF :THE CARLSBAD CITY PLANNING
COMMISSION DENYING AMENDMENT TO THE C ARLSBAD
CITY MASTER STREET PLAN
The Carlsbad City Planning Commission of the City of Carlsbad does
hereby resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission did on the 26th day of June , 196
adopt Resolution of Intention No. 29 to amend the Master Street Plan; and
WHEREAS, said Planning Commission did on the 24th day of July, 19
hold a duly advertised public hearing as prescribed by law to consider an
amendment to the Master Street Plan as follows:
Relocating the proposed extension of Tamarack Avenue easterly of it2
present terminus, said extension to be designated as a secondary strg
at Highland Drive to Park Drive at a point approximately I, 100' soutl
of intersection of Park Drive and Monroe Street, thence to Birch Ave
and OD Birch to Sunnyhill Drive to Skyline RozG and then continued ea:
to El Camino Real southerly of Chestnut Avenue; and
Changing the designation of said Tamarack Avenue from Pi0 Pic0 eas
to its proposed intersection with El Camino Real from a Major Street
.a Secondary Street with a right of way width of 68' and a paved curb tc
curb width of 48', except that the portion of the proposed extension
which traverses what is presently Birch Avenue will be a 62' right of
with paved curb to curb width of 48'.
WHEREAS, at said public hearing the said Planning Commission rece
the recommendations, objections, protests and comments of all individua
parties who desired to be heard;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that said amendment to Carl;
City Master Street Plan be denied for the following reasons:
1. Overwhelming objections by the citizens affected indicated that th
route should not be extended through the Highlands.

2. That it would not be in the best interests of the affected property c
or would it be considered good planning to run a secondary or major stre'
through a highly classified residential area in view of the fact that said e,

of Tamarack is in such close proximity to the intersection of Chestnot an
Camino Real as to render it inadvisable.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the
Carlsbad City Planning Commission held on the 24th day of July, 1962, b.
following vote, to wit:
AYES: Commissioners Davis, Ward, Ewald, Palmer, Jarvie and
Sonneman.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Commissioner Grant.
