PLANNING COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 1483
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING A STREET NAME
CHANGE FOR PROPERTY GENERALLY LOCATED NORTH OF ALGA
ROAD, EAST OF EL CAMINO REAL
CASE NO. : SNC-12
APPLICANT : CITY OF CARLSBAD
WHEREAS, in a letter to the Planning Department, dated
August 15, 1978, the City Fire Marshall noted a conflict wi
the street name Gaviota Lane, which is north of Alga Road,
Gaviota Circle and Place, which are south of Levante. Thes
streets, less than three miles apart, can be a potential so
of problems for fire and police response; and
WHEREAS, on September 5, 1978 the City Council determi
that the Planning Commission hold a public hearing to consi
a street name change of Gaviota Lane to an appropriate name
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the Municipal C
the Planning Commission did on the 8th day of November, 197
hold a duly noticed public hearing to consider said propose
street name change; and
WHEREAS, at said public hearing a staff report was
submitted and all persons desiring to speak on the subject
request were heard. At the conclusion of said hearing, aft
consideration of all evidence presented, the Planning Commi
found the following facts and reasons to exist:
1. The street name in question (Gaviota Lane) is identice two other streets within close proximity (Gaviota Circle ar
Gaviota Place); presenting a potential problem for efficier
fire and police responses in time of emergency.

2. Gaviota Lane was selected for change because it is new
developed and only partially occupied.
3. At the public hearing the name Colibri Lane was proposl
4. The change of name to Colibri Lane will be consistent 7
the City's Street Name Policy, and will not conflict with o
street names in the area.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission by the following vote
APPROVED SNC-12:
AYES : Rombotis, Schick, Wrench, Marcus, Jose, Lars1
NOES : None
ABSTAIN: None
ABSENT: L'Heureux
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the Planning
Commission recommends to the City Council that the Street N
Change-12 of Gaviota Lane to Colibri Lane be APPROVED.
INTRODUCED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 8th day of Novem
1978.
