PLANNING COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 2922
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CIT
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, GRANTING A STANDARDS VARIANCE
ADAMS STREET BETWEEN HAREUSON STREET AND PARK DRIVE.
APPLICANT: CITY OF CARLSBAD ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
CASE NO: SV 89-01.
WHEREAS, City Council has requested that staff investigate the p
developing a special hillside standard for Adams Street between Harrison Strf
Drive; and
WHEREAS, staff has developed alternative standards for the portion of P
which are acceptable to the City fi-om a liability standpoint; and
WHEREAS, the Traffic Safety Commission has voted to recommend that
design width for that portion of Adams Street be reduced and that concrete u
and gutter be earth colored.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the Planning Comm
City of Carlsbad as follows:
A. That the above recitations are true and correct.
B. That the Planning Commission grants SV 89-01 approving redu
curb to curb width on Adams Street between Harrison Street and Park Drive 1
to 34 feet, allowing slope encroachments into the public right-of-way and orde
of colored concrete for curb, gutter and sidewalk improvements.
C. That the Planning Commission recommends continuing the reql
60 foot dedications on Adams Street between Harrison Street and Park Driv
road alignment plans have been approved.

D. That SV 89-01 is granted based on the following findings:
1. That there are extraordinary or unusual circumstances (
applicable to the situation of surrounding property ne
variance of the standards.
2. That the granting of such variance will not cause substar
problems.
3. That the granting of such variance will not significantly
existing or future traffic and parking demands or pedestri
use.
4. That the granting of such variance will not be detrim
public welfare or injurious to the property or improve1
vicinity in which the variance is granted.
I 5. That the granting of such variance will not adverse1
comprehensive general plan.
