PLANNING COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 2997
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF AN
AMENDMENT TO THE LAND USE ELEMENT OF THE GENERAL
PLAN IDENTIFYING FUTURE SCHOOL SITES ON PROPERTY
GENERALLY LOCATED THROUGHOUT THE CITY OF CARLSBAD.

WHEREAS, a verified application for an amendment to the G
designation for certain property located, as shown on Exhibit "School Site Desig
dated November 9, 1989, attached and incorporated herein, has been filed with t
Commission; and
WHEREAS, said verified appGca&n consdtutes a request for an

WHEREAS, the proposed amendment will guide the preparation of LOC
Management Plans to reflect the location of future school sites desired by the Carlsl
School District; and
WHEREAS, at said public hearing, upon hearing and considering all te;
arguments, if any, of all persons desiring to be heard, said Commission considerel
relating to the General Plan Amendment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the Planning Co:
the City of Carlsbad, as follows:
A) That the above recitations are true and correct.
B) That based on the evidence presented at the public hearing, the recommends APPROVAL of GPA/LU 89-3, based on the following fir
Findings :
1. The provision for school facilities is a necessary, positive use that serves to
enhance the human environment, character, and image of the City.
2. The Land Use Element of the General Plan identifies proposed school
confirmed by the respective school district at time of developmenL
3. This amendment reflects the adopted 1989 School Location Plan for the ca.~
School District
4. All schools in the Carlsbad Unified School District are presently at ca]
schools have to be sited to meet the future residents needs.
5. Due to incompatii1e land uses, proximity to airport flight paths, the desir
student interaction with prime arterials, perceived environmental constr;
specific nature of residential development, and economic factors, the C~I
