CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, RECOMMENDING
APPROVAL OF A ZONE CODE AMENDMENT, AMENDING
TITLE 21, CHAPTERS 21.44 AND 21.45 OF THE CARLSBAD
MUNICIPAL CODE, RY THE AMENDMENT OF SECTIONS
21.44.020(a)(2), 21.44.050(a)(l) AND 21.45.090(c) TO
REVISE PARKING REQUIREMENTS FOR RESIDENTIAL

WHEREAS, the Planning Commission did on the 18th day of May, 1'
a duly noticed public hearing as prescribed by law to consider said request; and

recommends APPROVAL of ZCA 93-08, according to Exhibit "X", di

is amended by the amendment of Section 21.44.020(a)(2) to read as follows:
"21.44.020(a)(2) Parking Spaces Rewired.
(2)'Planned Unit Developments and Condominiums - Two standard
parking spaces. Exceptions: studio - 1.5 spaces/unit, one covered/unit, plan
developments in the R-W Zone - two standard spaces, one covered/unit, anc
dwelling unit - 1 space/second unit, covered or uncovered. Any uncovered
parking space for units in the R-W Zone may be located within a required fri
setback and may be tandem. The parking space for a second dwelling unit
provided through tandem parking (provided that the covered parking spaces
primary dwelling unit are located within a two-car garage and the garage is st minimm of twenty feet from the property line) or in the front yard setback. In 2
parking areas for guest parking must be provided as follows: 0.5 spaces for each
through ten units, 0.3 spaces for each unit in excess of ten units. Credit for visitor
may be given for frontage on local streets that meet public street standards for (
single-family residential projects subject to the approval of the planning cornmiss
less than twenty-four lineal feet per space exclusive of driveway entrances and d

"21.44.050(a)(1) General Requirements.
"Size and Access. Each off-street parking space shall have an area of
than one hundred seventy square feet exclusive of drives or aisles and a width of
than eight and one-half feet. Subject to the approval of the planning director, up t
and-one-half foot overhang may be permitted. Each space shall be provided with a
ingress and egress. Aisles to and from parking stalls shall not be less than:

(A) Fourteen feet wide for thirty and forty-five degree parking;
(B) Eighteen feet wide for sixty-degree parking;
(C) Twenty-four feet wide for ninety degree parking.
