HomeMy WebLinkAbout1999-05-19; Planning Commission; Resolution 4558r1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 e 0 PLANNING COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 4558 A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, UPHOLDING THE PLANNING DIRECTOR’S DENIAL OF A SIGN PROGRAM FOR THE CORNERSTONE CORPORATE CENTRE ON PROPERTY GENERALLY LOCATED ADJACENT TO PALOMAR OAKS WAY AND WRIGHT PLACE IN LOCAL FACILITIES MANAGEMENT ZONE 5 CASE NAME: CORNERSTONE CORPORATE CENTRE CASE NO: PS 98-132 WHEREAS, Cornerstone Corporate Centre, “Developer” and “Owr SIGN PROGRAM filed a verified application with the City of Carlsbad regarding property described as Lots 7, 8, 11 and 15 of Carlsbad Tract No. 81-46 Unit No. 1, in the City of Carlsbad, County of San Diego, State of California, according to map thereof No. 11287, filed in the Office of the County Recorder of San Diego County, July 16,1985. (“the Property”); and WHEREAS, said application constitutes a request as provided by Specific 181(A); and WHEREAS, said verified application constitutes a request for a Sign Pro shown on Exhibit “A”. dated September 24,1998, on file in the Carlsbad Planning Der CORNERSTONE CORPORATE CENTRE SIGN PROGRAM - PS 98-132, pro’ Section F. Sign and Graphic Requirements of Specific Plan 181(A); and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission did on the 19th day of May, 199 duly noticed public hearing as prescribed by law to consider said request; and WHEREAS, at said public hearing, upon hearing and considering all tc and arguments, if any, of all persons desiring to be heard, said Commission considered a relating to the Sign Program. B) That based on the evidence presented at the public hearing, the Commission UPHOLDS THE PLANNING DIRECTOR’S DENIA based on the following findings: CORNERSTONE CORPORATE CENTRE SIGN PROGRAM - P Findinps: 1. That Sign Program 98-132 does not comply with the Carlsbad Airpor; Specific Plan (SP 181(A)) sign standards for multi-tenant buildings in thal number of tenant wall signs per building elevation that are proposed (up to exceeds the maximum number permitted (1 sign per building elevation); 2) area per proposed sign exceeds the maximum permitted (5 square feet) sign sign, 3) the proposed location of wall signs along 1st and 2nd story buildil does not comply with the requirement to locate multi-tenant signage 1 building entrance(s); and 4) the proposed sign letter height (18”- 24”) ex( permitted 6” sign letter height for multi-tenant industriaVoffice buildings. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Commission of the City of Carlsbad, California, held on the 19th day of May, 199! following vote, to wit: AYES: Chairperson Heineman, Commissioners L’Heureux, Nielst Segall, Trigas, and Welshons NOES: ABSENT: Commissioner Compas ABSTAIN: COURTNEY E. - Chairperson CARLSBAD PLANNING COMMISSION ATTEST: Planning Director PC RES0 NO. 4558 -2-
