ORDINANCE NO. 9173.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD AMENDING SECTION 206
OF ORDINANCE NO. 9050, REGARDING
UTILITIES, UTILITY EASEMENTS AND
STREET LIGHTING.
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. SECTION 206 OF ORDINANCE NO. 9050 AMENDED.
Section 206 of Ordinance No. 9050 is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 206. Utilities, Utility Easements and Street Lighting.
(a) All distribution utility facilities within the boundaries of
the subdivision shall be placed underground. The subdivider is
responsible for complying with the requirements of this section,
and he shall make the necessary arrangements with each of the
serving utilities for the installation of such facilities.

(b) Utility easements twelve feet (12') in width shall be provided
where said underground distribution utility facilities are installed.
(c) The provisions of subparagraph (a) hereof shall not apply to
existing utility facilities nor to the installation and maintenance of
overhead electric transmission lines and overhead communication
long distance trunk and feeder lines. 4
(d) The use of concealed and/or Master TV or radio antennas
is preferred but not required.
(e) Ornamental street lighting shall be required in all subdivisions
and shall be located in numbers and places approved by the City Engineer
and the Planning Commission.
SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance shall take effect and
e in force on the 31st day from and after its final passage.
SECTION 3. PUBLICATION. The City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad is
ereby directed to cause this ordinance to be published once in the Carlsbad

Journal, a newspaper published and of general circulation in said City of
C arlsbad.
First read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Carlsbad
held on the 15th day of September, 1964, and finally adopted and ordered
published at a regular meeting of said City Council held on the 6th day of
October, 1964, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen: Atkinson, Hughes, Jardine and Neiswender.
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilman Dunne
