AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 9060, ARTICLE 15, BY ADDING
STREET PARKING AREAS. SECTION 1518, REGARDING LANDSCAPTNG OF' OFF-
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad does ordain as follows
SECTION 1. SECTION 1518, ADDED TO ARTICLE 15 OF ORDINANCE
NO. 9060. Section 1518, is hereby added to Article 15 and shall
read as fol1 ows :
"SECTION 1518: LANDSCAPING OF PARKING AREAS.
Every requi red parking area h avi ng a capacity Of five or more
vehicles, except in R-A, R-1, and R-2 zones,, shall be landscaped
as f0110ws:
1. For purposes of this the words "parking area" section,
shall include all black top or paved areas,, including access ways
and areas.
2. At least three per cent of said area shall be planted and
on Off a" ci a1 Street Tree maintained with trees listed the City
or approved shrubs.
3. Said trees or shrubs shall be:
PI anted in accordance with the requirements of
Ordinance No. 9174.
(b) Contained in planting areas with a minimum dimension
of or mas on ry by a concrete four feet and bounded
curb of height, a minimum of six inches in
(c) Located throughout the off-street parking areas in
order to obtain the maximum amount of di spersi on.
4. All landscaped areas shall be served by a water irrigation
system and be supplied with bubblers or sprinklers.
5. All plans for such landscaped areas shall be approved by
the City Plannl'ng Department, and City Manager prior to the
construction and placement thereof."

SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance shall take effect
and be in force on the thirty-first day from and after its final
passage.
SECTION 3. PUBLICATION. The City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad
is hereby directed to cause this ordinance to be published once in
the Carlsbad Journal, a newspaper published and of general circula-
tion in said City of Carlsbad,

:ity of Carlsbad held on the 7th day of September, 1965, and finall.
