ORDINANCE NO. 8046
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE, 1964 EDITION, VOLWE 1, AND THE APPENDIX THERETO, TOGETgER WITH CERTAIN CHANGES AND ADDITIONS, PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION THEREOF, AND REPEALING CERTAIN ORDINANCES.
1 The City Council of the City of Carlsbad does ordain as
follows :
SECTION 1; The UNIFORM BUILDING CODE, 1964 Edition, Volume 1,
including the Appendix thereof, copyrighted by the International
Conference of Building Officials, is hereby adopted by reference
as the Building Code of the City of Carlsbad for the purpose of
proscribing regulations governing the
enlargement, alteration, repair, moving, removal, demolition,
canversion, wcupancy, equipment, use, keigbt, area, and main-
tenance of all buildingsand structures within the City of
Carlsbad, except for the following changes and additions thereto
which shalf supersede the provisions of said CODE:

All such unsafe buildings are hereby declared to
be public nuisances,

E. Section 308 shall be added thereto to read as
follows :
Sec, 308. Each occupancy or principal building
or structure located within the City of Carlsbad
shall be identified by a designating number or
letter, or both, as issued by the Chief Building
fnspe-ctor, Said designating number or letter
shall be of a sufficient size and contrasting
color to appear readahle from the adjacent public
way.
SECTION 2: It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or
corporation to erect, construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move,
improve, remove, convert, demolish, equip, use, occupy, or
maintain any building or structure in the City of Carlsbad, or
cause the same to be done, contrary to or in violation of any of
the provisions of this Ordinance, including all regulations
adopted by reference herein,
violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance, including all
regulations adopted by reference herein, shali be deemed guilty
of a misdemeanor, and each such person shall be deemed guilty of
a separate offense for each and every day or portion thereof during
which any violation of any of the provisions of this Ordinance,
including all regulations adopted by reference herein, is com-
mitted, continued, or permitted, and upon conviction of any such
violation, such person shall be punishable by a fine of more
than $300, or by inprisonment for not more than 90 days, or by
both such fine and inaprisonment,

SECTION 3: If any portion of this Ordinance, including all
regulations adopted by reference herein, is, for any reason, held
to be invalid or unconstitutional, by the decision of any Court

of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the
y gf the remaining portions thereof.
CTION 4; Ordinance No. 8039 is hereby repealed.
SECTION 5: EFFECTIVE DATE, This Ordinance shall take
effec.t; and be in force on the thirtyafirst day from and after
its adoption.
SECTION 6: PUBLICATION, The City Clerk of the City of
Carlsbad is hereby directed to cause this Ordinance to be
published once in the Carlsbad Journal, a newspaper published
and of general circulation in said City of Carlsbad,
First read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad held on the 7th day Qf
1967, and finally passed, approved and adopted at
meeting held on the 21st day of February 9
1967, by the following vote to wit;
*YES: Cmn. Worthing, Neiswender, Atkinson, Dunne and Jardir
NOES: None.
