OQDINANCE NO. 1106
AN ORDINAYCE OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAI! ESTABLISHING
THE TPAFFIC SAFETY COVMISSION ..
The City Council of the Ci,ty of Carlsbad does ordain as
follows :
SECTION 1: II The Traffic Safety Covmission of the City of
Carlsbad is hereby established.
SECTION 2: The Traffic Safety Conmission shall consist of the
City Manager, Chief of Police, City Engineer, and four (4) private
citizens of the City of Carlsbad.
SECTION 3: Private citizens on the Commission and their
successors shall be appointed, and may be removed, by the hfayor
with the consent of the City Council.
SECTION ,4: The term of office as commissioners of the Traffic
Safety Conmission of private citizens shall be two (2) years;
provided however that two (2) of the first appointees shall be
appointed for ane (1) year terins so as to provide the higher degree
of continuity of membership u2on the commission.
SECTION 5: The commission shall elect a chairman, a secretary
and such other members as it deems desirable. Said officers shall
serve for a term of one (1) year and until the election of
successors. The commission shall hold meetings no less than once
during each calendar month, and shall send a report of each month's
meeting to the City Council. Robert's Rules of Order shall govern
the conduct of Traffic Safety Comrrission meetings,
SECTION 6: It shall be the duty of the Traffic Safety

Commission to study all aspects of traffic safety within the City
of Carlsbad and to Fake written recommendations to the City Counci
regarding measures which should b taken by the Council to promote
traffic safety within the City of Carlsbad,
SECTION 7: This ordinance shall take effect immediately
because it is for the immediate preservation of the public peace,
health, and safety in that there is presently no Traffic Safety
Commission of the City of Carlshad and the appointment and
functioning of such committee is necessary for he protection of
SECTION 8: PUBLICATION. The City Clerk of the City of
Carlsbad is hereby directed to cause this ordinance to be publishe(
once in the Carlshad Journal, a newspaper published and of general
circulation in said City of Carlsbad,
PASSED, APPfiOVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Carlshad held on the 2nd day of July
1968, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Neiswender, McComas, Dunne, Jardinc and Castro.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
