CITY COUNCIL ORDINANCE NO. 9348
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 21, SECTIONS 21.40.070 and 21.40.080, OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING SIGNS.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Title 21 of the Carlsbad Municipal
Code, the City Planning Commission did on February 13, 1973 hold a duly
noticed pub'lic hearing to consider amendments to Title 21 , Sections 21.40.070
and 21.40.080 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code, and;
WHEREA!;, the City Planning Commission has made certain findings and has
recommended that the City Council of the City of Carlsbad enact said amendments
into law, arid;
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad has, by Resolution
N0.3076 adopted said findings as their own and expressed their intent to
amend the lc!w in accordance therewith;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, as follows:
1. SECTION 21.40.070 Table 1 is amended to read as follows:

2. SECTION 21.40.080 is amended to read as follows:
SECTION 21.40.080 - Time Limit for Conformance of Existing Sign.
As of the effective date of this Ordinance codified in this chapter, any sign which does not conform to all of the re- quirements of this chapter may no longer be structurally or electrically a1 tered, increased in area or relocated unless it is made to comply with all of the provisions of this chapter< provided however, that it may be maintained, repaired and painted without permit or fee, for a period based on the following scale:

and thereafter, the owner thereof shall cause the sign to be removed or so altered 3s to conform fully with the requirements of this ordinance. A sign permit shall be required fpr any such alteration or relocation (Ord. 9224 8 1 (plirt), 1969: Ord. 9060 s 2607).

EFFECTIVE DATE: This Ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days
after its adoption and the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Ordinance and cause it to be published at least once in the Carlsbad Journa
fifteen(l5) days after its adoption.
INTRODllCED AND FIRST READ at a regular meeting of the City Council of
the City of Carlsbad, California held on the 6th day of March ,
1973, and thereafter PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular m-eting of the
City Counci" held on the 20th day of March , 1973, by the
following vote, to wit;
AYES: Councilmen Dunne, McComas, Lewis and Frazee.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilman Chase.
