AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF SAID CITY BY THE ADDITION OF CHAPTER 1.12 TO TO TITLE 1 THEREOF TO ESTABLISH A FILING FEE FOR CANDIDATES FOR ELECTIVE OFFICES OF SAID CITY.
WHEREAS, there are costs in processing a candidate's nomin-
ation paper for an elective office at municipal elections held
in the City of Carlsbad; and
WHEREAS, Section 22843 of the Elections Code of the State
of California authorizes a City Council to impose a filing fee
proportionate to the costs of processing a candidate's nomination
paper but not exeeding $25.00; and

WHEREAS, the City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad has reported
that said costs are in excess of $25.00 in all cases,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1: Title 1 of the Municipal Code of the City of
Carlsbad, California is hereby amended by the addition thereto
of Chapter 1.12 to read as follows:

1.12.010 Candidate's Filing Fee.
1.12.010 Candidate's Filing Fee. A filing fee of
$25.00 is hereby established for candidate's nomination
papers for elective offices at municipal elections held
in the City of Carlsbad. The filing fee shall be paid to
the City Clerk by each candidate for an elective office at
the time the candidate's nomination paper is filed with
the City Clerk. The City Clerk shall pay to the City
Treasurer all fees received which shall be deposited in
the General Fund.
EFFECTIVE DATE: The amendment to this ordinance shall be
effective immediately as'a-measur

ind thereafter PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of said
