ORDINANCE NO. 8078
INAMCE OF THE CITY COUNCI F THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING
TITLE 18, CHAPTER 18.12 OF THE CARLSBAD
MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE AMENDMENT OF SECTIONS
18.12.010 and 18.12.240 AND BY THE DELETION
OF SECTION 18.12.245 TO ADOPT BY REFERENCE
THE 1978 EDITION OF THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL
CODE SUBJECT TO CERTAIN AMENDMENTS.
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, does
ordain as follows:
SECTION 1: That Title 18, Chapter 18.12 of the Carlsbad
Municipal Code is amended by the amendment of Sections 18.12.010
and 18.12.240 to read as follows:
"18.12.010 Adoption of Uniform Electrical Code. The 1978
edition of the National Electrical Code, copyrighted by the
National Fire Protection Association, is hereby adopted by
reference as the Electrical Code of the City of Carlsbad except
for the changes, additions and amendments set forth in this chapter
which shall supersede the provisions of said code.
18.12.240 Section 250-26 (c) amended -- Grounding Separately
Derived Alternating-Current Systems. Section 250-26 (c) is
amended by the addition of the following after the first sentence.
"The primary grounding method shall be that which is referred to
as the "Uffer Ground" consisting of 20 feet or more of #4 rein-
forcing bar or larger placed 3 inches up from the bottom of the
concrete footing and #4 or larger copper conductor wrapped around
the rebar to support the copper conductor.

SECTION 2: That Title 18, Chapter 18.12 of the Carlsbad
Municipal Code is amended by the deletion of Section 18.12.245.
EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty
days after its adoption, and the City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this ordinance and cause it to be published at least
once in the Carlsbad Journal within fifteen days after its adoptior
