HomeMy WebLinkAbout1979-04-17; City Council; 2033; CMC 17.04.060 amend - Fire lanes & apparatus roadways access1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 20 11 1% ORDINANCE NO. 2033 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA AMENDING TITLE 17, CHAPTER 17.04 OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE AMENDMENT OF SECTION 17.04.060 TO PROVIDE FOR ACCESS ROADWAYS FOR FIRE APPARATUS AND TO PROHIBIT PARKING IN SUCH FIRE LANES. The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California iereby ordains as follows: SECTION 1: That Title 17, Chapter 17.04 of the Carlsbad Yunicipal Code is amended by the amendment of Section 17.04.060 to read as follows: "17.04.060 Section 13.208, Subsection(b) amended-- Access roadways for fire apparatus. Uniform Fire Code is amended by the amendment of Subsection(b) Section 13.208 of the to read: be obstructed in any manner, including the parking of vehicles. Curbs along roadways shall be painted red. The entrance to all access roadways shall be posted with signs not more than fifty feet apart and not more than nine feet high, to have six inch high letters. The sign shall read: "NO Parking -- Fire Lane", and/or other wording deemed appropriate by the Fire Chief. This sign shall also contain a warning that violators are subject to tow-away. No person shall stop, park or leave standing any vehicle in a fire lane. This prohibition shall not apply in any respect to any vehicle owned or operated by a Fire Department and clearly marked as a Fire Department vehicle. Any person violating this section is guilty of an infraction and shall pay a fine of no less than $25.00. In addition to other available means of enforcing this code, obstructions to required access roadways shall be subject to removal. The Police Department or members of the Fire Prevention Bureau shall cause the removal, at the owner's expense, or give notice of violation pursuant to Sections 41102 and 41103 of the California Vehicle Code."'
