AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING
TITLE 10 OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE
BY THE ADDITION OF CHAPTER 10.57 TO
PROVIDE FOR TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CITY
STREETS FOR LOCAL SPECIALTY EVENTS
WHEmAS, as various times during the year portions of a
zity street may need to be closed for celebrations, parades, local
special events, or other purposes: and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to close portions of the street
3n which these events are occurring for the safety and protection
3f the persons participating in the event: and
WHEREAS, Vehicle Code Section 21101(e) authorizes the
zity to temporarily close a portion of any street for celebrations,
parades, local special events and other purposes when in the
opinion of local authorities having jurisdiction such closing is
necessary for the safety and protection of persons who are to use
that portion of the street during the temporary closing: and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish a pro-
cedure whereby the Police Chief may approve such requests,
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City Council of
the City of Carlsbad, as follows:
SECTION 1: That Title 10 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code
is amended by the addition of Chapter 10.57 to read as follows:

10.57.010 Authority. This chapter is enacted pursuant to .he provisions of Vehicle Code Section 21101(e) in order to pro-
ride a procedure for temporarily closing a portion of any city ;treet for celebrations, parades, local special events and other

10.57.040 Signs Required. No closing of any street pursuant to this chapter shall be effective until signs giving notice of the closing are posted.
This ordinance shall be effective thirty EFFECTIVE DATE:

adoption of this ordinance and cause it to be published at least
once in the Carlsbad Journal within fifteen days after its adop-

Carlsbad City Council held on the 2nd day of December I
1980, and thereafter
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of said Council
held on the 16th day of December , 1980, by the following
vote, to wit:
