ORDINANCE NO. 8093
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 18, OF THE
CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE ADDITION OF
CHAPTER 18.30 FOR THE ADOPTION OF ENERGY
CONSERVATION REGULATIONS.
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, does
ordain as follows:
SECTION 1: That Title 18 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code is
amended by the addition of Chapter 18.30 to read as follows:
Chapter 18.30
ENERGY CONSERVATION REGULATIONS
Sections:
18.30.010 Purpose and application.
18.30.020 Solar water heater pre-plumbing required.
18.30.010 Purpose and application. This article is
intended to decrease dependence upon nonrenewable energy sources by encouraging and in some instances requiring the installation
of devices, structures or materials for the conservation of
energy on certain structures within the city. The provisions of
this chapter are intended to supplement and not supersede other
regulations and requirements imposed by this title.
18.30.020 Solar water heater pre-plumbing required. All
new residential units shall include plumbing specifically
designed to allow the later installation of a system which utilizes solar energy as the primary means of heating domestic
potable water. No building permit shall be issued unless the
plumbing required pursuant to this section is indicated in the
building plans. This section shall apply only to those
residential dwelling units for which a building permit was applied for after the effective date of the ordinance adopting
this chapter.
EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty
days after its adoption, and the City Clerk sha.11 certify to the
adoption of this ordinance and cause it to be published at least
once in the Carlsbad Journal within fifteen days after its
adopt ion.
