ORDINANCE NO. NS-755
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 10 OF THE
CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE, BY THE ADDITION OF CHAPTER
10.08.080 TO ADOPT BY REFERENCE THE FEDERAL HIGHWAY
ADMINISTRATION’S (FHWA) MANUAL ON UNIFORM TRAFFIC
CONTROL DEVICES (MUTCD) 2003 EDITION AS AMENDED BY
THE MUTCD 2003 CALIFORNIA SUPPLEMENT TO REPLACE THE
CALTRANS TRAFFIC MANUAL.
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, hereby ordains as follows:
SECTION 1 : That Title 10, Chapter 10.1 2 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code is amended by
the addition of Section 10.08.080 to read as follows:
“1 0.08.080 Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
Pursuant to California Vehicle Code Section 21 400, the Federal
Highway Administration’s (FHWA) Manual on Uniform Traffic Control
Devices (MUTCD) 2003 Edition as amended by the MUTCD 2003
California Supplement replaces the Caltrans Traffic Manual and is
hereby adopted by reference as the city manual for regulating and
installing official traffic control devices.”
EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after its adoption and
the City Clerk, City of Carlsbad, shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and cause it to be
published at least once in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Carlsbad within fifteen
(1 5) days after its adoption.

INTRODUCED AND FIRST READ at a regular meeting of said City Council held on the
10th dayof May , 2005, and thereafter,
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City Council
held on the 17th day of May , 2005 by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Hall, Kulchin, Packard, Sigafoose
NOES: None
ABSENT: Council Member Lewis
