2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 10, CHAPTER
3 10.44, OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE
REVISION OF SECTION 10.44.190 TO ESTABLISH UPON
4 RANCHO SANTA FE ROAD A PRIMA FACIE 55 MILE PER HOUR
SPEED LIMIT FROM THE NORTH CITY LIMITS TO ITS
5 INTERSECTION WITH LA COSTA AVENUE.
6 The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, hereby ordains as follows:
7 SECTION 1: That Title 10, Chapter 10.44, of the Carlsbad Municipal Code is amended
g by the revision of Section 10.44.190 to read as follows:
"10.44.190 Rancho Santa Fe Road.
(a) Upon Rancho Santa Fe Road from the north city limits to its
intersection with La Costa Avenue, the prima facie speed limit shall
be fifty-five miles per hour.
1 _ (b) Upon Rancho Santa Fe Road from La Costa Avenue to its
intersection with Olivenhain Road, the prima facie speed limit shall
be fifty miles per hour.
(c) Upon Rancho Santa Fe Road from Olivenhain Road to the
south city limits, the prima facie speed limit shall be forty-five miles
per hour."
EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after its adoption; and
the City Clerk shall certify the adoption of this ordinance and cause it to be published at least once in
a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Carlsbad within fifteen (15) days after its adoption.

INTRODUCED AND FIRST READ at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City Council on
the 7th day of November, 2006, and thereafter.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad on the 14th day of November, 2006, by the following vote:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Hall, Packard, Sigafoose
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: Kulchin
