AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
3 CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, REPEALING TITLE 10, CHAPTER 10,
SECTION 10.08.080, OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE,
4 ADOPTING THE FHWA MUTCD 2003 EDITION AS AMENDED BY
THE MUTCD 2003 CALIFORNIA SUPPLEMENT.

The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, hereby ordains as follows:

That Title 10, Chapter 10, Section 10.08.080 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code is repealed
7 in its entirety:

Former Section 10.08.080 read:
9 "10.08.080 - Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
1° Pursuant to California Vehicle Code Section 21400, the Federal Highway
11 Administration's (FHWA) Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)
12 2003 Edition as amended by the MUTCD 2003 California Supplement replaces
13 the Caltrans Traffic Manual and is hereby adopted by reference as the city
14 manual for regulating and installing official traffic control devices."
15 EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after its adoption; and
the City Clerk shall certify the adoption of this ordinance and cause it to be published at least once in
17 a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Carlsbad within fifteen (15) days after its adoption.

INTRODUCED AND FIRST READ at a Regular Meeting of the Carlsbad City Council on
the 24th day of May 2011, and thereafter.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a Regular Meeting of the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad on the 7th day of June 2011 by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Council Members Hall, Kulchin, Blackburn, Douglas, Packard.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
ABSTAIN: None.
