With the attached invoice the Arts Office has expended $7,900 of the awarded $15,000 and matching funds. The YES TO ART program began in October 1994, with the hiring of a Project Coordinator. Workshops began in December. Since then a youth assistant and four participating artists have been hired or contracted. Workshops have been held in mask-making, Danza Azteca, paper flower-making, muraling, and Afro-Cuban drumming. In March a field trip was conducted for forty-five youth to Cine Estudil at the Centre Cultural de la Raza. In January and April Theatre of Yugen and San Jose Taiko each conducted guest artist workshops. In April YES TO ART held an open house at the Boys and Girls Club. In May, YES TO ART exhibited works at Carlsbad's annual "Festejando a las Madrecitas" at Holiday Park. YES TO ART generated an interview for Take Five at Daniels Cablevision, televised in April. YES TO ART has also been awarded a grant of $3,926.00 by Carlsbad Community Television Foundation for its documentary project. Sincerely, Windy Bravo Project Director YES TO ART c. C.
