The party or parties to whom this permit is issued shall, whenever the same is required by law, secure the written order or consent to any work done hereunder from the Railroad Commission of the State of California or any other public board having jurisdiction over any work or location herein contemplated, and this permit shall be suspended in operation unless and until after such order or consent is obtained. This permit shall be void unless the work herein contemplated shall have been completed before Hovember 15, 1921. State Highway,J^ir GENERAL PROVISIONS APPLICABLE TO ALL PERMITS During the progress of the work such barriers shall be erected nnd maintained as may be necessary for the protection of the traveling public; the same shall be properly lighted at night; and the party or parties to whom this permit is issued shall be responsible for all damages to persons or property due to or resulting from any work done under this permit. EJxcept as herein authorized, no excavation shall be made or obstacle placed within the limits of the State Highway in svich a manner as to interfere unnecessarily with the travel over said road. If any grading or sidewalk work done under this permit interferes with the drainage of the State Highway in any way, such catch-basins and outlets shall be constructed as may be necessary, in the opinion of the State Highway Engineer, to take proper care of said drainage. On the completion of the work herein contemplated all rubbish and debris shall be removed and the roadway and roadsides shall be left neat and presentable and satisfactory to the State Highway Engineer. Said grantor hereby reserves the right to order the change of location or tbe removal of any structure or structures authorized by this permit at any time, said change or removal to be made by and at the expense of the party or parties to whom this permit is granted, or their successors and assigns. GENERAL PROVISIIPB IN FORCE SO FAR AS THEYTlW^iP^^E WORK TO BE DONE UNDER TH'.S PERMIT PIPES, CONDUITS, ETC. After any pipe«, conduits, drains or oi.licr underground structures are laid, or any excavation is mad.; in the roadway, tlie trenches or openings shall be properly backfillrd with suitable material, the backfilling shall be thoroughly tamped, and the surface of the road over said structure shall be left ever, with the adjoining road. Wherever the macadam or concrete gutters ot any part of the surf.-^ce of the highway is disturbed it shall be replaced, and if new materials are required they shall correspond with those already in place on the road. Macadam when replaced shall be rolled thoroughly with a steam roller. Where service pipes are to cross the highway the connections' shall be mat'e without disturbing the paving, where possible, by driving the pipes under the roadway, or the service pipes shall be carriecl under nd across the road in a larger pipe. The party or parties to whom this permit is granted shall maintain the surface of the roadway over said structures as long as the grantor; of this permit may deem necessary, until all signs of t'he trenches shall have been eliminated. P0I.ES, WIRES AND OVERHEAD STRUCTURES. In the erection of pole lines, unless otherwise herein provided, no trees located within the limits of the State Highway shall be cut or trimmed. No guy wires shall be attached to trees without a special permit from said grantor, and in no event shall they be so attached as to girdle the trees or in any way interfere with their growth. The wires shall be so protected at all times and places that they shall not interfere with or injure the trees either inside or outside the location of the highway. In the construction or reconstruction of pole lines no guy wires shall be erected nearer to the surface of the ground than six feet; provided, however, that the owners of such lines may maintain such guy wires at a lower elevation than six feet from the ground until such time as the said grantor shall notify them to remove said wires or to raise them to the elevation first stated. The party or parties to whom this permit is granted shall, within sixty days from the date of completion of the work, file in the ofBce of the said grantor a plan showing accurately the location of each pole erected in accordance with the permit, said plan to be of such size and in such form as the State Highway Engineer may direct. TREES, CUTTING AND TRIMMING. Where the cutting or trimming of trees is authorized, only such cutting or trimming shall be done as may be designated by the State Highway Engineer. In order to protect the trees througli which any wires may pass, said wires shall be insulated and such other tree guards used as may be directed by the State Highway EnglVieer. ' MOVING OF BUII/DINGS. No wedge, bar or spike shall be driven into the surface of the State Highway, and no trees shall be cut, trimmed or in any way interfered with. The building shall not be removed until the owner or mover shal! have secured from the county or municipal authorities having jurisdiction a permit containing such conditions or restrictions as they may see fit to impose. T'he building shall not be permitted to remain within the limits of the State Highway longer than days. SUPERVISION OF WORK. All of the work herein contemplated shall be done under the supervision and to the satisfaction of Ihe said grantor, and the entire expense thereof shall be borne by the party or parties to whom this permit is issued. The party or parties to whom this permit is issued shall pay the salary, subsistence and traveling expenses of any inspector appointed by the said grantor to supervise the work herein contemplated. If the said grantor shall so elect, repairs to paving which has been disturbed shall be made by the employees of the said grantor at such time as the said grantor may direct, and the expenses thereof shall be borne by said party or parties, who shall purchase and deliver on the road the materials necessary for said work, as directed by the State Highway Engineer.
