MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
It is agreed by and between the Administrative Office of the City of Carlsbad and the Carlsbad City Employees Association that the follow- ing changes and improvements in compensation and fringe benefits for City employees represented by the Association are mutually agreed upon for submission to the Carlsbad City Council for fiscal year 1971-72 as fol 1 ows :
1. A ''cost of 1iving"increase of 5% for all employees.
2. "Equity" salary adjustments in addition to cost of living for the following classifications:
(a) 2-1/2% Assistant City Engineer Maintenanceman Associate Planner Secret a ry Deputy City Clerk Secretary to City Manager Engineering Aide Senior Engineering Aide Equipment -Operator (Heavy) Senior Mai ntenanceman Library Clerk
(b) - 5% Civil Engineering Associate
The preceding does not include "equity" adjustments being considered for Department or Division Heads or Fire or Police personnel.
3. 1/50 Retirement Plan for miscellaneous employees.
4. Rental uniforms for all employees required to wear themyat City cost.
5. Safety shoes for all employees required to wear them, at City cost.
6. To prepare a combined educational ,incentive-longevity proposal for City Council consideration for' effectuation January 1 1972.
7. Substitution of Saturday holidays (observed on Friday, averaging one/year) for the Good Friday holiday. Employees desirina to attend Good Friday services hereafter may use compensatory time off.
8. To reconsider "equity" salary adjustments only for January 1, 1972. Consideration to be limited by actions of other employers and avail- able funds.
