LETTER OF AGREEMENT, CALIFORNIA STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION GRANT
This document serves as a Letter of Agreement between the CITY OF CARLSBAD, a
municipal corporation, hereinafter referred to as “City” and the CARLSBAD UNIFIED
SCHOOL DISTRICT, hereinafter referred to as “CUSD”.
As part of a California State Board of Education grant, CUSD requires the services of the
CITY to provide community services and programs related to arts education. CITY and
CUSD agree that the CITY will provide the following services to CUSD:

Administer the School/Community Arts Education Advisory Committee meetings
including: organizing and planning of the agenda for four meetings per year.
Write a bi-monthly newsletter. @sues to be printed in October, December, February, April
and june)
Prepare an arts education program and information packet for parents by February
2000.
Offer one family music night.
Assist with grant writing for the California Arts Council Artist in Residence Program.
Provide a database of artists interested in providing services to the schools.
Offer one classroom management workshop to all potential artists as a pre-requisite
to working in the schools. (Spring 2000)
Provide a calendar of arts performances and programs aligned with the CUSD’s music
program and compile and distribute recommended assemblies in the bi-monthly
newsletter.
Continue after-school arts programs including outreach programs for high risk
students thru the Arts Office YES to Art and Critical Hours programs.

I 0. Sponsor a summer arts camp closely aligned with CUSD’s program to provide
readiness, extension and enrichment opportunities for K-6 students.
I I. Advise and organize curriculum units for one gallery exhibition.
CITY and CUSD agree that the CITY will receive $8,000 upon billing by the CITY to perform
the above services from CUSD as part of a California State Board of Education Grant.
This Agreement may be modified by mutual consent of the CITY and CUSD. Any changes
shall be made in writing.

Enclosed for your reference are copies of Carlsbad City Council Agenda Bill No. 15,411
and Resolution No. 99-442. These documents went before the Carlsbad City Council on
September 21,1999, where the enclosed Resolution was adopted, approving the
agreement referenced above.
Also enclosed is a copy of the fully executed agreement for your files.
