No bid will be received unless it is made on a proposal form furr
by the Engineering Department. Each bid must be accompanied by c
certified check or bidder's bond made payable to the City of Carl
for an amount equal to at least 10 percent of the amount bid.

The work to be done consists in general of resurfacing
portions of various streets and involves placing asphalt
concrete surfacing over a prepared roadbed and such other
items and details not mentioned herein that are required
by the Plans, Specifications, and these Special Provisior
to be constructed or furnished and installed as specified
herein, and as directed by the Engineer, all in conformar
with the AGCfiPMA Standard Specifications for Public Work
Construction, 1970 Edition plus 1971 Supplement, the Plar
the Standard Drawings and these Special Provisions.
2, TIME LIMIT
The contractor shall complete the work in every detail
within fifteen (15) consecutive calendar days from the
date of execution of the contract.
3. TRAFFIC
Streets may be temporarily closed to through traffic at
direction of the City Engineer, e
4. INCREASED OR DECREASED QUANTITIES & NEW ITEMS OF WORK
The City reserves the right to make such alterations in t
plans or in the quantities of work as may be considered
necessary. Such alterations will be in writing and shall
not be considered as a waiver of any conditions of the
contract nor to invalidate any of the provisions thereof.
Compensation for such alterations shall be as provided in
Section 3 of the Standard Specifications, except as other
wise provided in these Special Provisions.
5, LINES AND ELEVATIONS
Prior to starting any work the City forces will stake out
the work and establish all reference points and elevatior
necessary for proper execution of the work under this cor
tract.
Stakes and marks set by the Engineer shall be carefully
preserved by the Contractor. In case such stakes and
markings are destroyed or damaged by reason of the Con-
tractor's operations, the cost of replacing or restoring
them will be deducted from any monies due or to become dL
the Contractor.

6. OBSTRUCTIONS i
Other forces may be engaged in moving or reconstructing
utility facilities or other improvements, or maintaining
service of utility facilities, and the Contractor shall
cooperate with such forces and conduct his operations in
such a manner as to avoid any unnecessary delay or hindr-
ance to the work being performed by such other forces.
Sewer manholes within the project shall be adjusted to
grade by City forces. A minimum of three (3) days notice
will be required by Public Works Department prior to the
commencing of sewer manhole adjustment work requested by
the Contractor.
Full compensation for conforming to the requirements of
this article, not otherwise provided for, shall be con-
sidered as included in the prices paid for the various
contract items of work and no additional allowance will f
made therefor.

7. PREPARATION OF SURFACE
City forces will blade clear the existing pavement edges
of the project, prepare surfaces for new pavement, and
make any necessary repairs of raveled and potholed pave-
ment edges and of potholes, cracks, seams and joints in
the surfaces to be paved. The Contractor shall notify thc
Engineer, in writing, forty-eight (48) hours in advance
(not counting Saturdays, Sundays, or legal holidays) of
his intent to start work in each area to permit the City
to remedy any deterioration of their above required oper:
tions; and within the above forty-eight hour period of
notice, the Contractor's work in each area shall not intc
fere with City forces.
8. ASPHALT CONCRETE
Asphalt concrete shall conform to Section 302-5 & Sectioi
400 of the Standard Specifications and shall be Type
111-B3-85-100 as specified therein.
The Contractor shall pave the street intersections 2s shi
on the plans or the areas as determined in the field by
the Engineer. At all street intersections the Contract0
shall furnish and place asphalt material as required to
meet existing grades and shall taper or feather this
material to permit a smooth riding surface. * *

Prime coat and tack coat shall be furnished and applied a
provided in Section 302-5 and these provisions. The cost
thereof will be considered as included in the unit price
paid for the asphalt concrete.
All new asphalt concrete pavement shall be seal coated
with asphalt emulsion as directed by the Engineer. Seali
such areas shall be included in the unit price paid for
asphalt concrete and no additional allowance made therefo
Asphalt concrete will be paid for at a unit price per ton
as a combined item, including mineral aggregate and aspha
binder in place on the roadbed. . The unit price per ton
for asphalt concrete surfacing, in place, shall include f
compensation €or conforming to the requirements of this
article, as specified herein, and no additional compensat
will be made therefor.

9. MISCELLANEOUS DRIVEWAYS
The City forces shall rough grade all driveways. Limits
of work for the miscellaneous driveway areas to be paved
shall be determined in the field between Contractor and
individual property owner. A private contract for paymen
between property owner and Contractor shall be executed
for all labor, equipment and material required. The City
shall assume no obligation for payment and no additional
allowance shall be made therefor.
