This agreement is made and entered into by and between the CITY OF CARLSBAD, a municipal corporation,
hereinafter referred to as “City” and RIDGELY ALLISON MULLER , hereinafter referred to as
”Contractor”.
Contractor will perform a series of six lectures on the “History of Opera” on September 9, September
22, October 7, October 21, November 4 and November 15,2002 from 2:OO PM to 4:OO PM at the Carlsbad
City Library, 1775 Dove Lane, Carlsbad, California.
City will pay the Artist $500.00 for the performance upon satisfactory completion of the performance series.
The requirement for liability insurance is waived.
The Contractor shall perform the services provided for herein as art independent contractor and in pursuit of
hidher independent calling, and not as an employee of the City. Contractor shall be under the control of the
City only as to the results to be accomplished.
The payment made to the Contractor pursuant to this Letter of Agreement shall be the full and complete compensation to which the Contractor is entitled. The City shall not make any federal or state tax
withholdings on behalf of the Contractor. The City shall not be required to pay any workers’ compensation
insurance on behalf of the contractor. The Contractor agrees to indemnify the City for any tax, retirement
contribution, social security, overtime payment, or workers’ compensation payment that the City may be
required to make on behalf of the Contractor or any employee of the Contractor for work done under this
agreement.
This agreement may be modified by mutual consent of the City and the Contractor. Any change shall be in
writing signed by both parties with a statement of estimated changes in fees or work schedule.
The City or the Contractor may terminate the agreement at any time after a discussion, and written notice to
the other party. The City will pay the Contractor’s costs for services delivered up to the time of termination, if
the services have been delivered in accordance with the agreement.
