Statement of the Matter
Oceanside City Council requested State Division of Highways to erect
a sign on Interstate 5 near the north City limits informing motorists
of an alternate route to San Diego.

Assistant City Manager of Oceanside.

City Manager's Recommendation
It is recommended that the Oceanside City Council be advised that we
have no objection to a sign stating either "Beach Route" or "Beach
Cities".
Council Action
10-20-70 The Oceanside City Council request re: highway signs was
approved and City Manager instructed to notify City of
Oceanside.

Dear Jack:
The Oceanside City Council has requested the State
Division of Highways to include a sign on Interstate
5 near the north City limits which would advise
motorists that there is another route to San Diego
besides 15. It was suggested that the sign read
"SAN DIEGO VIA BEACH CITIES11.
The District Traffic Engineer has replied by saying
that they could recommend either "BEACH ROUTE" or
"BEACH CITIES" with the concurrence of the City of
Carlsbad.
Will you please discuss this with your people and let
us know your feeling.
