Exhibit 2 - Memw, CIC to Council, of 1/25/71 Staff Recornmenda ti ons The school district has been working with the staff toward developing a program for the installation of sidewalks, curbs and gutters around the schools which do not have existing improvements. The timing of the work will be dependent upon availability of funds. The school district has advised that they will include funds for installation of these improvements when they begin preparation of 1971-72 budget. The City staff has agreed to perform the necessary grading work if the district can install the physical improvements. We recommend that the matter be referred to the staff for further study and coordination with the district and that a recommendation regarding City participation be included in the 1971-72 'City budget. Counci 1 Action 2-2-71 The staff was instructed to further study and coordinate with the School District the matter of developing a program for installation of sidewalks, curbs and gutters around the schools that do not have existing improvements. -2- -/- MEMORANDUM TO: City Council January 25, 1971 FROM: Chairman, Communi ty Involvement Commi t tee (CIC) SUBJECT: Request for Priority in Sidewalk Improvements With reference to the recent concern expressed by the City regarding the lack of sidewalks in some of the residential areas, the CIC, at its meeting last week, unanimously recommended that first priority should be given to sidewalk improvement for those areas adjacent to the schools.
