Statement of the Matter
CMWD has advised the City that filtered water will be available from the Auld Valley Treatment Plant ofJ)$Q-through the San Diego County Water Authority. The State Health Department has previously indicated
that we will be compelled to have filtered water for our consumers
forthwith.

. Dear Mr. Ar.no1d:
The San Diego County Water Authority has advised this men-ber agency that filtered water service will be made available to North San Diego County Water Agencies upon the completion of the Auld Valley Treatment Plant, which will be built by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. This is a very important milestone for all public water agencies of this area, who will acquire the capability to serve filtered water at a more reasonable cost on the basis of a regional project.
This District has discussed with you from time to time our continued evaluation for distribution of filtered water and it is therefore timely that we arrive at some firm decisions. Accordingly, we .suggest a conference be held within the week to discuss specifically the matter of filtered water service so that your views and suggestions can be expressed.
