Serra,System - Audio -Visual Coordinator -will perform her duties on
a' ful'1 time basis fo'r our City Library. The City will be reimbursed '

on the Request for Personnel Action form submitted'by Department
Head Cole and 'a confirming letter dated February 3,, 1971 from
the Serra Regional Library System. All City costs, and a 10%

the classification AUDIO-VISUAL LIBRARIAN (Serra System) at Salary
Range 34 as requested.

3-2-71 Council approved the hiring of an Audio -Visual Coordinator on
a full-time basis for the City Library with the condition that
all costs will be paid by Serra Regional U bral^y System and
if not paid, this position will be terminated.

AUDIO-VISUAL COORDINATOR
Definition. This is a professional class in the library series involving
duties of assisting the City Librarian in the admi-nistration
of the audiovisual program. Duties are performed under direction.
Exam les
of duties
1.
Order film for monthly previews.
2.
Set up time and place and prepare evaluation sheets
for previews.
3.
Conduct business meeting at preview sessions and see
that prints are returned to their source.
4.
Compile monthly statistics and send quarterly reports
to librarian.
5.
Prepare annotated film lists and distribute packets
of film.
b.
See that adequate supply of film forms is maintained.
7.
Organize in-service training sessions for staff for
the purpose of introducing new AV equipment and mater-
ials.
8.
Arrange joint meetings with AV coordinators in other
libraries.
9.
Co-ordinate with resources'of the State Library.
10.
Prepare detailed procedure manual for all AV services.
Employment
Standards
Masters Degree in library science from A. L. A. accredited
library school, and at least three years of supervisory
experience in professional library work:,

Dear Mrs. Cole,
I have your letter of January 29. In as much as none of the
10% for records, etc. is for supervision, Serra System will
then vladly pay this whole amount as well as retirement. We
are eery appreciative of the service which the City of Carlsbad
is rendering to the system and do not want to impose any
further.
We will expect to pay the origional amount indicated in your
letter of January 22, which totals $1,295.82 per month and
includes retirement and 10o for records, etc. 11,e thank you
and the other City officials of Carlsbad for your help on this
matter.
