Statement of ts`re Matter ; -Because of recent rulings at the State level
the Office of.Procurement no -longer is allowed to take bids from major
companies. An allotment for two (2) pick-up'trucks of $4700.00, budgeted
Fiscal Year 1970-71 and.based on projected State Procurement figures,
is short.of the mark for purchase on the open market by an approximate
$700.00. A •request.for bids by seven local and San Diego County Ford,
Dodge and. Chevrolet agencies revealed Weseloh Chevrolet as the low
bidder at.$•2,678.00 each.including the 5% sales tax. -This we feel is
an excellent bid for the equipment specified.
A TRANSFER OF FUNDS to Parks Department capital outlay in the
*amount of $700.00 is requested to facilitate the purchase.of two trucks
available by a :February 16, 1971 bid opening.
One of the pick-up trucks in Parks s beyond repair. Another
will be retained for light. transportation since.the department -is low
on automotive equipment. The aforementioned vehicle, not reparable,
is proposed to be.sold on an "as is" basis by sealed bid.

Girg Manager's Recommendation
The Parks and Recreation Commission approved this transfer at their
regular meeting of.February 22. This equipment is badly needed, and
we obviously had to way to know that fleet bidding would be discon—
tinued by ehe major -manufacturers. It is recommended that this re-
quest'be approved.

3-2-71 Council approved transfer of funds in the amount of $700.00 for -
the purchase of two (2) pick-up trucks for the Parks Department
as recommended by staff.
