Traffic Signal at Vista Way and El Camino Real

Statement of the Matter
There is presently a traffic bottleneck at the interchange of Vista Way
and El Camino Real between Carlsbad and Oceanside. The accident record
at said interchange is unsatisfactory. As a result of this bottleneck
at peak traffic times it is necessary for the CHP to provide two traffic
control officers to control the traffic.

That the City Council adopt Resolution No urging the Division
of Highways to take immediate and appropriate action to expedite the
installation of appropriate traffic signals at said interchange promptly.

3-16-71 Resolution # 1833 was adopted with amendment requesting Division
of Highways widen the present bridge to a full four lanes
including adequate on and off ramps at El Camino Real and
Vista Way overcrossing/

RESOLUTION No. 1833
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD
REQUESTING TRAFFIC SIGNAL AND OVER-
PASS WIDENING AT VISTA WAY AND EL
CAMINO REAL.
WHEREAS, there exists a traffic bottleneck «t the Inter-
change of Vista Way and El Camino Real between Carlsbad and Ocean-
side, and
WHEREAS, the accident record at said interchange is un-
satisfactory, and
WHEREAS, the Division of Highways has pendinu a project to
install signals at said location which project has |>een placed on
it list of priorities to be considered for construction when fund;
are available, and
WHEREAS, presently at peak traffic times the niP must pro-
vide two traffic officers to control traffic at said interchange.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Carlsbad does hereby urge the Division of Highways to
take immediate and appropriate action to expedite installation of
appropriate signals at said interchange and to promptly widen the
bridge at said overpass to Four (4) lanes, together with adequate
on and off ramps.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the
City Council held March 16th , 1971, by the following vote, to
wit:
AYES: Cmn. Dunne, McComas, Jardine, Castro ,tnd Lewis.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
