Statement of the Matter
Mr. Neely would like very much to attend the Annual Water Works Associ-
ation's 91st Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado, from June 13 to 18,
1971. Permission has not been requested for any previous national AWWA
conference as they were held on the East coast. This year's national
conference is the closest to California. Two years ago the conference
was held in San Diego, and Mr. Neely attended with many delegates of the
AWWA from several eastern cities. These delegates as well as Mr. Neely
feel these conferences are especially valuable as they keep members up-
to-date on water systems. Mr. Neely also feels the benefits derived from
this conference would more than justify the cost.

Staff Recommendations
Director of Public Works requests permission be granted for Mr. Neely to
be a delegate to the AWWA and that $382.00 be allowed for his expenses.
This amount is in the present budget. (Mr. Neely puts in many hours of
overtime without compensation.)

conference in Denver, Colorado, and authorization given for
expenses in the amount of $382.00, as recommended by the Public
