Definition This is varied clerical work which inc filing, maintenance of simple financia related duties.
Positions in this class require use of and initiative to oerform assigned dut gned work is usually quickly learned and follows well- defined procedures. After employees become familiar with procedures, they work with some independence on routine tasks. Assignments require proficiency in the operation of a typewriter and other office equipment.

Types a wide variety of material from rough draft or copy, marginal notes and verbal instructions, including letters, case records, reports, legal documents, file cards, notices and various forms and stati tical data.
Maintains office records, records entries and files documents.
Sorts, indexes and .files materials alphabetically, numerically and by other predetermined categories; searches for and removes file material.
Arranges routine material for typing; secures , prepares and copies standard departmental information and data, proceeding semi-independently.
Answers telephone and other routine public inquires, refers difficult problems to supervisor.
Performs related work as assigned.
Know1 edge of modern office procedures and practices ; knowledge of business letter writing and ability to compare simple letters; ability to use good business English and to spell correctly; ability to type accurately at a reasonable rate of speed; ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public and to work harmoniously with other employees; ability to follow a prescribed routine and to do simple tasks independently.
Graduation from high school including or supplemented by office practice training (including instruction in typewriting); or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Ability to type 40 words per minute.
