Statement of the matter
A request for the reclassification of the position now held by Mr. Anson,
Engineering Aide, is on file.
This department has reviewed the duties now performed by Mr. Anson,
and fds tney more precisely correspond with that description classi--
'fied Senior Engineering Aide. Mr. Anson performs duties involving
comprehensive surveying, drafting, and plan checking and works closely
with his supervisor, Mr. Neely, in operating the field water office.
Mr. Anson has completed and is presently enrolled in night courses
at Mircosta College advancing his acedemic standing in the engineering
field. Since his appointment, May 1, 1970, he has accepted and
performed superior work.

SENIOR ENGINEERVNG AIDE
JOB DESCRIPTION
DEFINITION This is a sub -professional class in the engineering series
with duties involving surveying, drafting, and plan checking
and performing related work as required. Duties.are performed
under supervision.
EXAMPLES
OF DUTIES 1. Performs man plotting from topographic survey notes pre-
pared in field surveys.
2. Drafts preliminary and final engineering plans.
3. Operates surveying instruments and cleans and maintains
the equipment.
4. Assists in checking. tentative and final subdivision maps
and other public works related plans.
5. Prepares legal descriptions.
6. Makes algebraic and trigonometric computations.
7. Assists in computing grades, reducing cross-section
notes, and drawing alignments.
8. Indexes and maintains project maps and drawings.
9-. Assists in performing plan checking of improvement plans..
10. Assists in providing public information concerned with
the activities of the department.
EMPLOYMENT Any combination of training and experience equivalent to
STAINDARDS graduation from high school, including completion of courses
in drafting, algebra, and trigonometry, and three years of
drafting or surveying experience.
