Dunne MemberSj Carlsbad City Council 1200 Elm Ave. Carlsbad, Ca 92008 Gentlemen: It is the feeling of the Board of Directors of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce that, since Palomar Airport is now in the approximate center of Carlsbad's city limits, it is time that our city's name be added to that facility. At the Jan. 17, 197^ meeting of the Board, a motion was carried to ask the City of Carlsbad to use its influence to have the airport known as Carlsbad-Palomar Airport. Such a designation would make the airport more readily identifiable as a part of our community. The Chamber will appreciate any action you can take in this matter. B. M. Christiansen President BMC/WN U of Carlsfaab 1200 Elm Avenue Carlfibab, California 92008 January 26, 1973 Mr. B. M. Christiansen, President Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce Post Office Box 597 Carlsbad, California 92008 Dear Chris: Reference your letter of January 22nd, I quite agree with you and the Board of Directors of the Chamber that a change in the name of Palomar Airport to the Carlsbad-Palomar Airport would be hiqhly desirable. I will bring the matter up at the next Council meeting which will be held February 6, 1973 and get the support of the Council on this proposal. I would prefer, if possible, that it be called simply Carlsbad Airport, but that might be too drastic a channe at this time. We will follow through on this and let you and the Board of Di- rectors know what success we have. Incidentally, on another matter, our latest offi- cial records and recent tally of population shows Carls- bad with a total count of 16,300. I suggest that the change be made on your Chamber of Commerce signs. We will contact the State Highway Department to change the oopulation signs at the entrances to the City. Best regards for the coming year. Sincerely, OAVID M.
