It will sav« approximately one-hours time the night of the Council meeting. Exhibit 1 . 'Resolution #1976. Date, City Manager's Recommendation Council Action 4-4-72 Resolution #1976 was adopted, ordering the canvass of the General Municipal Election to be held on April 11, 1972, to be made by the City Clerk. 4-18-72 Resolution No. 1982, declaring results of Election, was adopted by-title only and further readi-ng waived. -2- 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 IS 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 •27 28 29 30 31. 32 RESOLUTION NO. 1976 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ORDERING THE CANVASS OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE 11TH DAY OF APRIL, 1972, TO BE MADE BY THE CITY CLERK OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD. WHEREAS, a regular general municipal election will be held and conducted in the City of Carlsbad, County of San Diego, State of California, on Tuesday, the llth day of April 1972, as required by law; and WHEREAS, the City Council of said City desires the canvass of said election to be made by the City Clerk of said City; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That pursuant to Section 22932.5 of the Elec- tions Code of the State of California, the canvass of the regular general municipal election to be held in the City of Carlsbad, County of San Diego, State of California, on Tuesday, the llth day of April, 1972, is hereby ordered to be made by the City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad. SECTION 2. That the City Clerk of said City shall prior to the 18th day of April, 1972, complete the canvass of the regu- lar general municipal election to be held in said City on the llth day of April 1972, and shall certify the results to this said City Council on the 18th day of April, 1972. SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the pass- age and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original Resolutions of said City, and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceed- ings of the City Council of said City, in the minutes of the meet- ing at which the same is passed and adopted. SECTION 4. DUNNE, Mayor of the City of Carlsbad, California Ci/ty'Clerk of of Carlsbad, California - 2 - 8 9 10 11 19 22 24 25 '2™ 30 31 32 RESOLUTION NO. 1982 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY OF CARLSBAD ON THE 11TH DAY OF APRIL, 1972, DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW. WHEREAS, a regular general municipal election was held and conducted in the City of Carlsbad, County of San Diego, State of California, on Tuesday, the llth of April, 1972, as required by law; and WHEREAS, notice of said election was duly and regularly given in time, form and manner as provided by law; that voting precincts were properly established; that election officers were appointed and that in all respects said election was held and con- ducted and the votes cast thereat; received and canvassed and the returns made and declared in time, form and manner as required by the provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California for the holding of elections in cities; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 1976 adopted the 4th day of April, 1972, the City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad canvassejd the returns of said election and has certified the results to this City Council, said results are received, attached and made a part thereof as "Exhibit A." 23 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: • SECTION 1. That there were 14 voting precincts established for the purpose of holding said election consisting (of consolidati of the regular election precincts in the City of Carlsbad as estab- lished for the holding of state and county elections. SECTION 2. That said regular general municipal election was held for the purpose of electing the following officers of said City as required by the laws relating to cities in the State of California, to wit: -1- 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 15 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 •27 28 29 30 31 32 Three (3) Members of the City Council of said City for the full term of four years. SECTION 3. That the whole number of votes cast in said City (except absent voter ballots) was 3550. That the whole number of absent voter ballots cast in said City was 48, making a total of 3598 votes cast in said City. SECTION 4. That the names of p'ersons voted for at said election for Member of the City Council of said City are as follows: Margaret J. Bonas Joe A. Castro Lewis L. Chase Charles Dix Robert C. Frazee Bob Glomb Fred R. Harris Elmer H. Jose, Jr. Robert T. Little Glenn E. McComas Floyd E. Miller Patricia K. Palmer Barney B. Permann Roy R. Sanchez That the number of votes given at each precinct and the number of votes given in the City to each of such persons above named for the respective offices for which said persons were candidates were as listed in Exhibit "A" attached. SECTION 5. The City Council does declare and determine that Glenn E. McComas was elected at Member of the City Council of said City for the full term of four years; Lewis L. Chase was elected as Member of the City Council of said City for the full term of four years; Robert C. Frazee was elected as Member of the City Council of said City for the full term of four years. SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall enter on the records of the City Council of said City, a statement of the result of said electi showing; (1) The whole number of votes cast in the city; (2) The names of the persons voted for; -2- on 1 (3) The measures voted upon; 2 (4) For what office each person was voted for; 3 (5) The number of votes given at each precinct to each 4 person, and for and against each measure; 5 (6) The number of votes given in the City to each person, 6 and for and against each measure. 7 SECTION 7. That the City Clerk shall immediately make and, 8 upon compliance by the persons elected with the provisions of Secti 9 11565 and Section 11568 of the Elections Code of the State of 1° California, shall deliver to each of such persons so elected a 11! Certificate of Election signed by her and duly authenticated; that 12 she shall also administer to each person elected, the Oath of Office 13 prescribed in the State Constitution of the State of California and 14 shall have them subscribe thereto and file the same in her office. 15 Whereupon, each and all of said persons so elected shall be inductejd 1° into the respective office to which they have been elected. 17 SECTION 8.
