Statement of the Matter
During the May 2nd meeting the City Council requested additional
information concerning subject parcels. The parks and Recreation
Department'has prepared a preliminary plan for each parcel, and
projected a preliminary cost estimate for each which covers all costs
except man hours 'and/purchase price. It is anticipated that construc-

Mayor David M. Dunne
City of Carlsbad
1200 Elm Avenue
Carlsbad, California
Dear Mayor Dunne:
92008
The Friends of the Library wish to urge the
Carlsbad City Council to acquire the three
pieces of property on Pio Pico Street, de-
clared surplus by the California Highway
Department. Included in the strip of land
fronting on Pio Pico is an existing two-car
garage which could serve as an excellent
storage and marking place for Friends of the
Library books.
This is very important to the library since
the proceeds of the Book Fair revert directly
to the library, thereby providing increased
services to the community. Since the library
is the one city facility which can be used
by all citizens of the City of Carlsbad, we
do strongly recommend this purchase.
Sincerely, s\ •
t?L
