The following deletions and inclusions are required under
Rule X of Resolution No. 1727, Personnel System Rules and Regulations
of the City of Carlsbad, California.
Deletion: Section 5 (page 22) words as exhibited and as
follows:
"..., or death in the immediate family of the employee,..."
Inclusion:' Add Section 5B (page 23)Bereavement Leave: -Any
eligible employee who is absent from work by reason of death im
the immediate family of the employee may be allowed bereavement -leave
not to exceed three work days. Immediate family shall include the
father, mother, brother, sister, spouse, mother-in-law, father-in-law,
or dependent of any eligible employee.of the City.

Staff Recommendations
Bereavement Leave is a benefit offered all regular.full-time
�enployees in four Memorandums of Understanding approved by the City

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD AMENDING CITY COUNCIL RESOLUTION
NO. 1727 ADOPTING PERSONNEL SYSTE14 RULES AND
REGULATIONS OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA.
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad does hereby resolv
as follows:
WHEREAS, the City Council did on May, 1970, adopt rules and
regulations for the administration of the personnel merit system
created in Ordinance No. 1120,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT Rul x, Section. 5 is
amended by deletion and inclusion as set forth on Exhibit "A"
attached and included herein.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a meeting of the City
Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, held September 5, 197
by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Cmn. McComas, Lewis, Chase and Frazee.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Cmn. Dunne.

returns to duty. i
Part-time employees, with regularly scheduled tours of duty
fixed in advance, who work more than 1040 hours a year shall earn
sick leave on a pro -rated basis.
Part-time employees for whom no regularly scheduled tour of duty
has been prescribed and who work less than 1040 hours per year do
not earn sick leave. -

j An employee who is required to take a physical examination in con-
nection with induction or enlistment in the Armed Forces is not
charged leave for the time necessary to complete the examination.
Members of the military reserve who are recalled to active duty are
Placed on pay status with the branch of the Armed Forces for the
time required to take the physical examination and, therefore, must
be charged leave or leave without pay for that purpose.
Foployees making a donation of blood without charge will be given
a reasonable time off for that purpose. No charge will be made
against annual or sick leave when such absence is approved in ad -
Vance by the supervisor.
