The morale is good among the groups. We have not been advised of a single complaint from citizens because of this adjusted work week. j It is requested that we continue the present 4-day week•for as long as a.full 10-hours of daylight exists, at which time another evaluation can be made. Further, this concept is becoming more wide spread throughout California 'and reports indicating its acceptance are,becoming common. , M A" OOM AB No. Date: CityManager's Recommendation Concurrence with staff recommendation. COUNCIL ACTION: 10-17-72 The continuance of the 10 hour, 4 da,' week was approved for the Public Works Department employees. 11-21-72 Discussion regarding the 10 hour work day - 4 day week program presently maintained by the Public Works Dept. held by Council. Public Works Director and Personnel Director informed Council that approval had been given at the meeting of 10=17-72 to continue the program. It was moved by Council that program be cont-inued and a thorough, indepth report of the program , to include maximum use of equipment report, for presentation to the Council December 19, 1972. 12-19-72 The 10-hour day - 4 day week report was accepted as prepared by the staff. 1-2-73 After considerable discussion as to discontinuing the 10 hour day - 4 day week, Mayor Dunne requested this matter be deferred until the next regular meeting. 1-16-73 It was agreed that the experimental program of the 10-hour 4-day work week be continued on a full time basis in those departments now using this program; and that the City Manager be instructed to direct and coordinate a staff study of the results of the 10-hour 4-day work week programs used in several City Departments, and from this study submit a proposal to the City Council, which will be of benefit to the community as a whole, in regards to the best utilization of working hours. -2- A
