An employee of this class is responsible for supervision of the clerical and technical operation of a major section of a central- ized municpal accounting system. The work requires a knowledge of accounting theory ,and practice and the ability to apply this knowledge to work problems. General supervisicn is received from higher level accountants, but the employee is expected to perform independently. Examples 1. Authenticates expenditures and determines availability of Duties of funds. 2. Checks final posting to general _ledgers and reports made from these ledgers; assigns costs to proper accounts. 3. Computes materials, labor and overhead costs for various work projects. 4. Prepares cash receipt vouchers, including the auditing' of divisional receipts for extension and compliance with ordinance rates. 5. Audits refund requests, mileage requests, postage and telephone charges. 6. 'Checks and verifies work of subordinates and maintains a proper flow of work. 7. Performs related work as assigned. Employment College graduation in accounting; or an equivalent Standards combination of experience and training. An accountant will have considerable knowledge of accounting principles and procedures; knowledge of laws and regulations relating to municipal accounting and auditing procedures; knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; knowledge of the principles and practices of utility accounting and of mechanical bookkeeping and accounting equipment; ability to prepare moderately difficult and complex accounting, financial and administrative reports; ability to plan, direct and supervise the work of an accounting unit; ability to mz.intain sound working relationships w.th the public, officials, subordinates, and other employees. It would appear after review of Western City Magazine classified ads and the ; suggested qualifications in the description that a Salary Range of 32 ($9,564 - 11,616) would be in keeping. A first t year salary would be $9,804. PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a meeting of the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, held December 19, 1972, by the following vote, to wit: AYES; Councilmen Dunne, McComas, Lewis, Chase and Frazee.
