The Southern California Gas Go. and Pacific Telephone Underground 1 ;'res east of the Railroad are in conflict with the street construction.
The Utility companies are lowering their facilities to the maximimurn
extent possible but the required cover during construction isstill not
adequate.
The pavement thickness was re-evaluated and it was determined that full
depth asphalt concrete 8" thick could be substituted for the pavement
on crushed rock in order to minimize excavation over the line.
The attached change order No. 3 reflects this change and provides for a
deduction in Contract price of $674.75.

Due to the conflict with existing utilities just east of the AT&SF Rail-
road, the City of Carlsbad has calculated a new structural section from
station 13+68 to station 14+47. The old structural section was 4" AC
paving on 6" aggregate base on 9" of decomposed granite. The new struct-
ural section is 8" AC paving on approved subgrade.
The following additions and deletions are necessary to perform the contract:
