Statement of the Matter mhe Parks Department requests
permission to expend up to 82,000.00 of existingr parks in
lieu fees, from park area No..l, to improve the existing
manuallv operated system.
During the summer months our proposed revision will - save
eleven roan hours per week, lower evaporation losses, and
,make the park more usable during day light hours since
irrigation will occur automatically during the evening.

Whenever possible, the.irrigation systems on existing and new
facilities should. be automated to reduce _the.number of man
hours -required to provide adequate•irrigation of the facilities.
-Over the long haul, there.is.substantual savings to.be made by
reducing the manpower needed for irrigating park and recreation
areas.

Railway for the Rotary Park property,.L. and a progress report on
the construction of beach access at Elm Ave. and Grand Ave.

RESOLUTION NO. 3955
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING EXPFNDI-
TURF OF PARKIN -LIEU FEES
WHEREAS, as of the date of this resolution, Park Area
No. 1 has a balance of $2,864.45 in park -in -lieu funds; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is deeirous of installing an
automated irrigation system in Rotary Park; and
WHEREAS, it is estimated that materials and supplies
for said automated irrigation system will cost $2,000.00.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Carlsbad as follows:
Expenditures of up to $2,000.00 from park -in -lieu funds
from Park Area No. 1 for installation of an automated irrigation
system in Rotary Park are herein authorized and approved.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of
the City Council held January 16, 1973, by the following vote,
to -wit:
